Terms of Service
Bantam (“Bantam”, “we”, “us”) is a wager-tracking app for groups of friends. These Terms are a contract between you and Bantam. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Bantam.
1. What Bantam is — and isn’t
Bantam is a scorekeeper. It lets friends record friendly wagers with each other, keep a running tab, and see who was right most often. It is not a gambling service, a sportsbook, a payment service, or a bank.
- Bantam never holds, transfers, collects, or pays out money. There is no wallet, no deposit, and no withdrawal. Nothing you do in the app moves money anywhere.
- Balances in the app are shown in Clucks, a unit of account used only for keeping score. Clucks have no cash value, cannot be bought from or sold to Bantam, and cannot be redeemed for anything.
- Bantam does not set odds, take a cut, act as a counterparty, or profit from the outcome of any wager. Any terms of a wager are set by the people in it and are fixed once posted.
- If friends choose to settle a tab with each other outside the app, that is entirely between them. Bantam is not a party to it, does not process it, and has no responsibility for it. Any links to third-party payment apps are shortcuts you can use or ignore; they open those apps with nothing pre-filled and Bantam never receives payment information.
2. Who can use Bantam
You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account. We ask for your date of birth to confirm this; accounts of anyone under 18 will be removed. You must also be legally permitted to use an app like this where you live. Wagering between friends is subject to local law, and it is your responsibility to know and follow the laws that apply to you. Bantam is not available for use where its use would be unlawful.
3. Your account
You need an email address to sign up. Keep your login private; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Your username and display name are visible to other users. Don’t impersonate anyone or pick a name that is abusive or misleading. One person, one account.
4. Private groups and friends
Nothing in Bantam is public. Groups are invite-only, and wagers are visible only to the people in that group or in that scrap. You’re responsible for who you invite. Group admins can remove members and change group settings.
5. Behaviour
Be a good sport. You agree not to:
- use Bantam to run a business, take wagers from the public, or act as a bookmaker or intermediary for anyone;
- use it to harass, threaten, or defraud anyone, or to post content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit;
- involve anyone under 18 in any way;
- use bots, scrape the service, probe its security, or try to get around limits and safeguards;
- use Bantam for anything illegal where you are.
We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules, and we may remove content at our discretion. You can report people or content from within the app.
6. Content
You own what you post (wager titles, messages, photos). You give Bantam a licence to store, display, and transmit it as needed to run the service — for example, so the friends in your group can see it. Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to share.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Your login, profile, friends, and payment handles are removed. Wagers you already settled stay in your friends’ history as “Deleted user” so their records still add up; anything still open is called off.
8. Disputes between friends
Bantam gives you tools to call results, veto bad calls, and dispute outcomes, but the people in a wager decide what happened. Bantam does not adjudicate disputes, and any tab shown in the app is a record of what those people agreed to, not a debt owed to or enforceable by Bantam.
9. No warranty; limitation of liability
Bantam is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that scores and tabs will never be wrong. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bantam and the people who build it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any amount anyone claims to be owed as a result of a wager tracked in the app. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the past twelve months (which is nothing — Bantam is free).
10. Changes
We may update the app and these Terms. If a change matters, we’ll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Bantam after a change means you accept the new Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Collier County, Florida, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
